Title: On Baubles and Pride
Fandom: Tales of Symphonia/Lord of the Rings, Takes place in
paradisa RPG
Characters/Pairings: Zelos Wilder, Galadriel
Summary: You find common ground in the strangest places
It had been a difficult day. The sort where the castle seemed to conspire against her. Perhaps it did. It was certainly capable of it. Regardless, Galadriel was already lacking in patience. Zelos had just happened to be the straw that broke the camel's back with his incessant flirting.
"Stop."
"Stop?" He looked a little startled, not as much from the request as from the suddenness of it.
"I tire of being praised for my appearance alone. Do you not think I have heard enough of it in my long years? There are those who see a beautiful surface and are content to look no further, believing they have seen the heart of the matter. I am not some pretty bauble to be admired and set aside at will."
No, you wouldn't give me such a headache if you were, he thought. But after a moment's pause he smirked and rested his hands behind his head, leaning back on his heels.
"Of course not, my lady. I hope you don't think that's what I meant. You are one seriously smart and talented hunny!"
She sighed, a mix of frustration and fondness, and let the matter rest. Just as he'd intended.
It was funny. Galadriel was one of the last people he expected to find himself relating to, but here she was, worrying about being seen as an object. Nothing like he had to deal with, of course. Still, maybe she wasn't completely clueless.
Huh. Who knew?
